Gdy muzyki Mike'a Oldfielda wci±ż nam mało, pociechę stanowi± utwory rzadkie, które nie znalazły się na regularnych płytach artysty, a jedynie na różnego rodzaju składankach lub singlach. Pociecha to z jednej strony niewielka, gdyż nagrania te niełatwo jest zdobyć. Z drugiej za¶ strony wielka, je¶li bowiem się uda, znajdziemy po¶ród nich kilka utworów zaiste wybitnych.
Jako Ľródła podali¶my te pierwotne oraz w niektórych przypadkach te, które wydały nam się łatwiej dostępne. W niniejszym wykazie nie uwzględnili¶my utworów zawartych na popularnych składankach "Exposed" (1979) oraz "The Complete" (1985). Nie zdecydowali¶my się także wymieniać niezmiernie trudno osi±galnych bootlegów Oldfielda.
Zdecydowali¶my się na dokonanie podziału rarytasów w zależno¶ci od rodzaju nagrań, co pozwoli na lepsz± orientację w ich charakterze.
