"Friends I know so well, will you wait for me?
Wait until my ship comes in from see...
I stand on my own, I feel so alone...
Like a child without a game I'm lost without an aim...
"
(Barry Palmer 'Without An Aim')

Barry Palmer music career began in 1976, when he became a lead vocalist of the German rock band Triumvirat. Albums recorded with Triumvirat:

  • Old Love Dies Hard (Capitol 1976);
  • Pompeii (Capitol 1977);
  • A La Carte (Capitol 1979).

    After the group broke up Barry stayed in Germany to sing with Satin Whale and Gaensehaut.
    In 1983 Mike Oldifeld heard one of the Triumvirat's album and was interested in the voice of the lead vocalist. He wanted Barry to join the 'Crises' tour and he wanted him to sing on it, just the tour - no recording. But Barry Palmer refused because he was busy working on his solo album in the Northern England.
    After Mike came back from the tour, he contacted Barry again and asked him to do a single, which was 'Crime of Passion'. After that they recorded (in the spring of 1984) also a four songs for "Discovery".
    Barry recorded with Mike three more songs, which were "When The Night's On Fire" (performed later by Anita Hegerland on "Islands"), "Pictures In The Dark" (performed finally also by Anita) and "Man In The Rain" (melody was used as "Heaven's Open" and lyrics appeared on "Tubular Bells 3").
    When the 'Discovery' tour was finished, Barry went back to England and did some re-mixing on his solo album "Without An Aim" (1984). He used on it some experience from the working together with Mike. This quite good concept album tells a story about a man who got his big success too early and his life changes into a fight and chasing the career. It was released on Venom Records, a small company in England, which went bankrupt in a short time. That's the record was sold very quickly and wasn't promoted at all.

    Barry Palmer signed also single "God Bless The Children", that had some success in Scandinavia. He also made gigs with different bands (The Wedge, Nightshift) in clubs in London.
    In 1997 he began recording demos of the new material. In 1999 the "Snack Studio Preview" was ready. It contains five quiet but well-done songs written together with David Duncan. When will it be released, if ever?

"I feel so empty, my life's been and gone,
